On October 5th, 2023, Denticon will be converting from a one-stage login screen to a two-stage login. The two-stage login is an industry standard. It is also a step towards future functionality, such as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
To a two-stage login screen:
Please note: The first time a user accesses this screen, the autofill option WILL NOT work. In order to complete this new login screen for the first time the user will need to know their username and password.
If a user does not know their name and password:
There are a couple of different options for retrieving this information. If your password is saved in your browser, you can access the browser's Autofill settings to recover your login credentials. You can also ask your administrator to review the user listings in Denticon's Setup>Security>Users screens to let you know what your username is.
Google Chrome:
Microsoft Edge:
Or Administrators can access Setup>Security>Users to review user names.
*It is important to note that usernames are assigned and maintained by the organizations that subscribe to Denticon accounts. Denticon Support is unable to retrieve individual user account information for users.
Users will still log into Denticon from the same URL's (www.planetdds.com or www.denticon.com) with the same links and "Client Login" button as they currently do.
Denticon usernames and passwords will remain the same.
Note: The "I cannot Access My Account" link is being moved to the Password entry screen. Users will need to know their usernames in order to recover their passwords via this utility.
How To Update Trusted Sites For Two Step Login
We recommend that our Users update their Trusted Sites now to make the transition to the Two Step Login easier. When our domain names are added to Trusted Sites, pop-up windows areautomatically allowed for these domain names. Then these “Pop-up blocked” notifications will no longer appear and
require additional clicks each session.
NOTE: Editing Trusted Sites in Chrome only affects the Chrome browser. Editing them in the Control
Panel affects all browsers on your system. We cover both methods below. Use the directions better
suited for your needs.
Updating Trusted Sites in Chrome
- Open Google Chrome and click the three dots in the top right corner of the browser.
- Go to Settings > Privacy and Security.
- Scroll down to “Pop-ups and redirects” and click on it.
- Click on the Add button for “Allowed to send pop-ups and use redirects”.
- In the text box, type the URL of the websites you would like to add. Then click Add.
a. [*.]planetdds.com
b. [*.]denticon.com - The websites will now appear in the list of trusted sites and will allow pop-up windows without
confirmation prompts.
Updating Trusted Sites in Control Panel
- Start Windows > Control Panel > Internet Options
- Click the Security tab.
- Click on the Trusted Sites icon (green checkmark).
- Click on the Sites button.
Note: Some organizations have restrictions that prevent a user from updating these settings. If the office is unable to update these settings on their own, Denticon recommends reaching out to the office's IT support team.
FAQ:
Q. Do I need to change or update my username or password?
A. No, this transition requires no action from users to login via the new screens.
Q. Will this new login screen require us to check an email or text message to be able to proceed with logging in?
A. No, this update is not introducing Multi-Factor Authentication to Denticon user accounts.
Q. Will Autofill still work to populate my username and password?
A. Initially after the change on October 5th, Autofill will not function as the new screens will not be recognized by previous Autofill settings. Once you login for the first time, Autofill will be able to remember and populate your credentials going forward.
Q. Is there a way we can print of a list of user names for our staff to reference without exposing their passwords to others?
A. Yes, for those wishing to do so, it is recommend to run the Reports>Lists>Security List>User List - Summary Report on or prior to October 5th. This will generate a list of all Usernames under your account without exposing the users passwords.
